READING 

• Read passages with you - stopping at specific points, as often as necessary, to ensure clarity and understanding. 
• Guide you through challenging passages using the best strategies for you to take and make your own.   For example, close-reading, discussions, summarizing, re-reading and vocabulary building.   conventions, figurative language, and literary techniques so that you can gain command over any text you analyze.
• By understanding, you’ll be able to engage with what you are reading, retain details, and themes longer, and hopefully, enjoy your work along the way!
• Reading fluency- improve your understanding by improving reading speed and articulation.

WRITING 

As an English language learner, writing perfectly comes last...Your message is important and can change your life.  What is your goal?  Personal writing?  Academic? Emails?  Professional?

• Free templates and tools will be shared with you for you to use now and in the future.
• Develop letters, emails, and essays that have correct grammar.
• Understanding and following directions of a writing prompt can make or break your grade- I’ll help you clarify and understand exactly what your writing needs to be-
• Understand and use the basic mechanics of writing:  brainstorming, outlines, rough drafts, and revisions.  
• Grammar!  Word usage, vocabulary, and structure will be a focus to improve and articulate your message.
• Help you organize research, develop a thesis, word choice for poetry, strengthen your voice
• It’s important you learn to manage these processes on your own.  I can answer questions, give feedback, edit, and publish.
• Motivation!  Writing presents many hurdles and writer’s blocks...I get it, I understand, and we’ll work through it together.
